The Name
WabiNian is the thought that arises when you witness blossoms in their full splendor — the desire to preserve it, to understand it, to become part of it.
This is not a commercial naming, but an attitude. Every object we craft is the embodiment of that thought. A dried flower, a piece of tie-dye, a bean-pod doll — each is the crystallization of "a moment of seeing nature's beauty."

Wabi-Sabi Aesthetics
Wabi-sabi (侘寂) is an aesthetic that embraces impermanence and imperfection. It resonates naturally with WabiNian's botanical creations — dried flowers are the beauty of fading blossoms, the uncontrollable patterns of tie-dye are the beauty of serendipity, and the irregularities of handmade objects are the warmth of human touch.
IWe do not chase perfection, but truth. A preserved flower keeps the posture of its bloom, yet acknowledges it no longer grows. The blurred edges of a tie-dye cloth are the traces of dye flowing freely, not precise lines drawn by hand. The crooked smile of a bean pod doll is determined by the natural curve of the pod, not set by a designer.
These "imperfections" are exactly what we wish to preserve. Industrial assembly lines can produce perfection, but not warmth. We choose to work with our hands, letting each piece carry its own character.
Rediscover Nature

Humans once lived in symbiosis with plants. We dyed with flowers, wove mats from grass, carried goods in nutshells, and built nests from branches. After the Industrial Revolution, plastic and synthetic fibers replaced plants, and our relationship with nature became one of consumption and being consumed.
What WabiNian seeks to do is simple: to re-express forgotten uses of plants through contemporary design language. Let the pod be more than waste that splits open when ripe—let it be the body of a spirit. Let tie-dye be more than blue-and-white cloth for souvenirs—let it be a painting where flowers grow. Let the nutshell be more than kitchen scraps—let it be a tile cat guarding the home.

Oriental Aesthetics
"Withered yet unyielding, plain yet full of feeling" — WabiNian's Eastern natural aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from Song dynasty aesthetics and wabi-sabi philosophy, we use the natural decay and color textures of botanicals as our creative language, interpreting a return-to-simplicity philosophy of natural living. Yunnan is the most botanically diverse region in China. We draw inspiration from eight gifts of this land — each element carries its own unique material language and creative direction.
Flowers
Fresh-cut flowers from Yunnan account for 70% of national production. From Dounan Flower Market to wild blooms in the mountains, flowers are WabiNian's core medium—preserved blooms with color retention, pressed dried flowers, and specimen-making.
Herbs
Yunnan is a kingdom of medicinal herbs. Sanqi, Tianma, and Dian Chonglou—the roots, stems, flowers, and leaves of these medicinal plants, beyond their healing uses, possess distinctive formal beauty, suitable for specimen art and decorative installations.
Dyeing
Bai tie-dye is an intangible cultural heritage craft passed down for a thousand years in Dali. The blue-to-white gradients created with indigo are irreplicable natural patterns. We use tie-dyed fabric as the canvas for floral art, allowing dye and flower to nourish each other.
Fungi
Yunnan's wild mushroom species account for 40% of the world's total. The forms of matsutake, termite mushroom, and dried beef mushroom are inherently sculptural. Dried fungi serve as decorative materials, their textures and colors being natural sculptures in themselves.
Coffee
Yunnan's coffee cultivation area accounts for 95% of the national total. The hues and textures of coffee husks and beans serve as supplementary materials for botanical crafts—their natural deep brown tones pair with dried flowers in a way that is grounded yet never dull.
Tea
Pu'er tea, Dianhong, and Moonlight White—Yunnan's tea diversity is universally recognized. The dried forms of tea leaves and the delicate intricacy of tea blossoms are natural accessories for floral artistry.
Insects
Yunnan's insect species account for over 60% of the national total. Butterfly specimens, cicada sloughs, and honeycombs—these remnants of insects that have naturally shed or completed their life cycles are vessels of micro-ecological beauty.

WabiNian's preserved flower products run on two parallel color systems, each corresponding to distinct aesthetic traditions and market demands:
Low-saturation dark red, burgundy, caramel, grey-green, deep brown. Inspired by the bouquet tones of classical European still-life paintings—petal edges faintly tinged with brown, colors settled and restrained. Suited to vintage-style spaces and mature aesthetic sensibilities.
High-brightness, low-saturation pink, blue, yellow, green, purple. Inspired by the soft frosting tones of macarons—light, sweet, yet never cloying. Suited to younger aesthetics and modern minimalist spaces, widely embraced across Asian markets.
Craft & Technology
The convergence of traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques and modern color-preservation technology is WabiNian's methodology of creation. We do not reject technology—its purpose is to let natural beauty linger longer, not to replace nature.
Dali Bai tie-dye uses indigo root as its dye, producing blue-and-white patterns through stitching, binding, immersion, and unstitching. Each piece of fabric bears patterns determined jointly by dye liquor, cloth, time, and temperature—impossible to replicate. We weave this thousand-year craft into our floral decorative art.
Our independently developed preservation process treats flowers at their peak bloom through dehydration, decolorization, dyeing, and drying, retaining the soft touch and natural hues of the petals. The stabilized colors endure for years—the core strength of our wholesale business.
